Description: How can business and IT leaders work together to identify and drive innovation that will lead to sustained business success and growth? How can they get improved IT ROI and reduce IT investment risk? Despite improvements, most organizations see better alignment and partnership between business leaders and IT as one of their top priorities. Most failures to achieve hoped for business benefits continue to be attributed to disconnected expectations between the business and IT teams, which occur throughout the lifecycle of investment initiatives. Most organizations have realized that innovation and capturing the value of IT investments is heavily dependent on the effectiveness of the partnership between business and IT. This one-day course is targeted at addressing one of the most critical root-cause drivers behind these issues. This course focuses on the ingredients for a high-performance Business-IT partnership. While many offerings focus on just IT, this class establishes the roles that both business and IT leaders should play to effectively partner, drive innovation, and manage IT investments.
This class also includes a CEO/CIO Panel discussion. Over lunch, participants will be given the opportunity to engage in an interactive question and answer with individuals that have played leadership roles, both in business and IT, in Fortune 500 organizations. In the upcoming session, the panel members include:
• Bud Albers – President & CEO Interactive Technology Strategies and Board Member iStreamPlanet. Bud was formerly EVP & CTO Walt Disney Company - Disney Connected & Advanced Technologies.
• James Temme – President & CEO Compendium Partners.
During Jim’s 26-year tenure at Anheuser-Busch, his career spanned positions, including: VP, Sales and Market Analysis Group; Director - Supply Chain Optimization; Director – Information, Management; Director - Financial Planning and Analysis.
Audience: This one day class is targeted at pairs of IT leaders and their Business counter-parts. This course is for senior business and IT managers and executives who are responsible for setting IT priorities, making investment decisions and/or sponsoring IT project initiatives. We have found that the best results are achieved when the business leader and their IT counter-part attend as a team. This allows the same concepts to be mutually understood, agreed-upon and applied to their individual situations. Business leaders will gain a better sense for how to work with IT and manage IT investments. IT leaders can use this class as a forum to set mutual expectations for the business' participation in IT initiatives and to build credibility with their counter-parts as members of (not just supporters of) the business. This course is very focused on the core issue of the roles in the partnership. This class is not a technology course, nor a class on the latest technology trends, nor a general class on team dynamics, nor a general class on effective partnerships. It addresses specific responsibilities that must be covered between the business and IT, considerations for business and IT roles and specific partnership techniques for success.
