Description: HTML5 is the next major milestone in HTML and it is not just another incremental enhancement; it represents an enormous advance for modern web applications. While HTML 4 has been tweaked, stretched and augmented beyond its initial scope to bring high levels of interactivity and multimedia to Web sites. Processor-intensive plugins like Flash, Silverlight and Java have added media integration to the Web, but at a high cost especially for Mobile Computing. HTML5 adds many new features, and streamlines functionality in order to render these processor-intensive add-ons unnecessary for many common functions.
In this course students learn about HTML5 new features, like layouts, forms, offline support, geolocation, audio and video, graphics, communication APIs, storage, new JavaScript web-workers, and more. Other topics include a discussion on which HTML5 features are safe, which features need to be tested, and which areas of HTML5 are still under development.
Audience: This course is for beginning and advanced developers interested in creating HTML5 web applications.
Prerequisites: Getting Started With HTML and CSS (HTML01) or equivalent experience. Experience or further training in CSS and JavaScript is also recommended but not required.
