Boeing employees are encouraged to earn special Certificates that are awarded by the Boeing/Washington University
in St. Louis Educational Partnership. Created in 1992, this Partnership is designed to prepare employees for future,
technology-based work requirements that are specifically aligned with the Company's strategic direction. These
Certificates are highly valued credentials, and their achievement is recognized annually in a commencement ceremony
at Boeing.
Boeing Partnership Certificates differ from general CAIT Certificates in two ways: 1) Certificate course requirements
may only be fulfilled with classes meeting outside normal working hours (i.e. classes which meet either weekdays after
5 p.m. or on weekends); and 2) Some of the general CAIT certificate titles are not available as Boeing Partnership
Certificates because they are not aligned with the Company's strategic direction, e.g. Certificates involving .NET
technology.
Classes taken during normal working hours, but on your personal time (e.g. while on vacation, during flex work week
off-hours, etc.) can be applied toward Certificate requirements. If a specific course you have taken is required for a
Boeing Certificate, but you cannot apply it because it was taken during normal working hours, you may substitute any
class with the same or greater number of elective hours for that requirement. You will not be asked to take the same
course again. Alternatively, you may apply ineligible classes toward general CAIT Certificates (i.e. those that are not
specifically Boeing Certificates). However, these credentials will not be awarded as part of the annual Boeing ceremony.
For further information, you may contact any member of the Boeing/Washington University Curriculum Planning
Committee.
- Individual courses may only be applied toward one Certificate.
- If you have already applied a course toward another certificate, or have sufficient prior knowledge or coursework, you may be able to substitute classes with the same number of elective hours. Call (314) 935-4444 for details.
If you have met the requirements for a Certificate of Advanced Studies and would like to receive the printed
and framed Certificate, please contact us at training@cait.wustl.edu
or (314) 935-4444. You will need to provide your name, social security number, the name of the certificate
you are requesting, and the names of the classes you would like to apply to the certificate\'s requirements. If
needed for mailing purposes, we will also need your Mail Code, Employee Number, and/or Department number. Please
note that classes may only be applied toward the requirements of a single certificate and that all courses must
be completed at the time of your request. Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing and delivery.
